Shopping for a way to turn your photos into magnets can get confusing fast, because the same little product goes by half a dozen names. Photo magnets, picture magnets, magnetic photos, magnet photo prints, custom fridge magnets. If you have searched for any of those and ended up here, good news: they are all the same thing. Here is a plain guide to the names and what actually matters when you buy.

They are all the same keepsake

At the heart of it, every one of these is a printed photo with a magnet on the back. The different names are just regional habits and personal preference:

  • Photo magnets and picture magnets are the two most common names, and they mean exactly the same thing.
  • Magnetic photos and magnetic pictures describe the same product from the other direction, the photo that happens to be magnetic.
  • Magnet photo prints highlights that it is a real photo print, just on a magnet instead of paper.
  • Custom fridge magnets or refrigerator magnets point to where most people put them.

So whichever phrase you typed into Google, you are looking for the same keepsake: your picture, printed in full color, backed with a strong magnet.

What actually matters when you buy

The name does not change the quality, but a few things do. These are what separate a magnet you love from one that ends up in a drawer:

  • Print quality. Full color, true to life, with crisp detail. Cheap promo magnets often look washed out. Ours are pressed to order so faces and colors really pop.
  • The finish. A smooth, sealed surface resists splashes and fingerprints and keeps the color from fading.
  • The hold. A magnet that holds on and lifts off cleanly without scratching.
  • Where it is made. We print and press every order in the USA, usually shipping within one to two business days.

Pick the shape and size that fits your photo

Once you know what to look for, the only real decision is shape and size. We press three shapes in five sizes:

  • Square, 2 by 2 inches. The smallest we make and the lowest price per magnet, which is why it is the usual choice for favors and big sets.
  • Square, 2.5 by 2.5 inches. Our everyday favorite and the most popular size, with enough room for group photos to read clearly.
  • Rectangle, 2 by 3 inches. The proportions of a traditional photo print, so upright portraits and landscapes fit without cropping anyone out.
  • Round, 2.25 inches. A soft, classic frame that flatters a single face and stands out among square magnets.
  • Round, 3 inches. The largest we press, for the one photo you want people to notice.

Not sure which suits your image? Our photo magnet size guide compares all five side by side with a size chart, our pricing guide shows the cost per magnet at every pack size, and our guide to the best photos for fridge magnets helps you choose pictures that print beautifully.

Great for more than the fridge

Whatever you call them, magnetic photos are a small, affordable way to enjoy your pictures every day. People use them as wedding favors, save the dates, gifts, and everyday fridge magnets. They make a phone full of photos into something you can actually hold, and they are not limited to the kitchen.
